Rules of Thirds

This photo is using rules of thirds to separate three sections of the photo and subject.

Rules Of Thirds

In this photo the eye is being drawn to the notice posted on the side of the pole.
The red door is the first thing that pops and the eye is drawn to the corner of the picture.
The model is placed in the bottom right corner leading the eye to her rather than searching the picture for the subject.
On the top right handed corner is where the eye wants to go because the subject almost pops out of the photo.
In this photo the subject (pretty kitty) is being separated with three levels.
The subject can be hard to find in this photo but it is being separated with three levels of ground.
The telephone wire in this photo creates a subtle depth to the picture while drawing the eye away from the center of the photo.
Using the umbrella porch to highlight the selected subject the depth of the photo is intensified and the rules of thirds is demonstrated in the top right corner.

Macro Setting

the focus of this picture is on the background which brings out the depth of the cat.

Macro Setting

the background of the photo is blurred which centers all the attention to the subject, which is the flower

Macro Setting

the cup being slightly to the side allows for the eye to be drawn to the side as well

Macro Setting

Because the subject is so faint the blurry-ness of the background almost blends with the subject itself
